1 Kings 5:1-12 – WORKING TOGETHER
It is a wonderful thing when people can work together for the glory of God.
King Hiram of Tyre was “ever a lover of David”. When Solomon became king of Israel, Hiram sent representatives to greet him.
DAVID’S PROBLEM – Vs. 2-3
Solomon sent back to Hiram, reminding him that David had wanted to build a house for the Lord, but the Lord would not let him. God did promise that his son would build the house. 2 Samuel 7:1-17
SOLOMON’S PURPOSE – Vss. 4-5
Solomon’s purpose was to build a temple for God.
SOLOMON’S PROPOSAL – Vs. 6
Solomon proposed that Hiram’s people would cut cedar trees and that Solomon’s people would assist. In return Solomon would give Hiram whatever fee he required.
SOLOMON’S AND HIRAM’S PARTNERSHIP – Vss. 7-12
Hiram provided timber to Solomon.
Solomon provided food to Hiram.
There was peace and a pact (league) between them.
