Matthew 9:1-8 – WORDS 

Jesus was brought a man “sick of the palsy lying on a bed”.  Notice the use of words in this story.

AN EXPRESSIVE WORD – Vss. 1-2 – “Son be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” 

AN EXASPERATED WORD – Vs. 3 – Jesus’ enemies accused him of blasphemy. 

AN EXPLANATORY WORD – Vss. 4-5 – Jesus had done the harder thing.  To forgive was harder than healing. 

AN EXPLOSIVE WORD – Vss. 6-7 – To prove that Jesus had authority to forgive sins, He commanded the young man to get up and go home. The man did. 

AN EXULTANT WORD – Vs. 8 – The people glorified God.
