Psalm 7 – WHEN FALSELY ACCUSED

There will be times when people will say things about us which just aren’t true.

We can learn how to handle these situations by following the example of David in Psalm 7.

The theme of Psalm 7 is a false accusation that was spoken against David.

In the heading, reference is made to the “words of Cush”. We’re not sure who he was, but here is David’s reaction to his words of slander.

CRY TO GOD Vss. 1-9

Vs. 1 – When slandered, we need to first realize where are help is coming from.

Our Lord God, the God of the universe, our creator, our Savior, our strength, is the one to whom we should come.

As we are facing slander, we must take the burden to the Lord and leave it at his feet.

Vss. 3-5 – David was not claiming to be free from all sin, but innocent of the specific charges being leveled against him.

Vss. 6-9 – David is asking for vindication.

CONFIDENCE IN GOD Vss. 10

It is so important, not just to say that we are trusting the Lord, but to actually trust Him. Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 26:4

COUNSEL ABOUT THE WICKED Vss. 11-16

It is good to remember that the wicked answer to God.

CONCLUSION WITH PRAISE Vs. 17

David ends his appeal with a time of praise. May we remember to do the same!
