1 CORINTHIANS 1:18-31 – THE UNITY OF THE MESSAGE

Like so many Christians today, the Church in Corinth was divided. They all seemed to have their favorite Bible teacher and were splintered into different factions. 1 Corinthians 1:10

This was never the intention of the Lord Jesus.

John 17:20-21 – “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

We need to be united in the message we convey to those outside true Christianity. What is the message that people need to hear and heed the most? It is the message of salvation or the message of the cross.

This is the message your friends and family need to hear. It is the message you need to believe to be truly part of the Family of God.

THE POWER OF GOD – 1 Corinthians 1:18, 24-25

The Message of the Cross – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 10:9-13

Vs. 24 – We are helpless to atone for our sins. The power of Christ’s atonement for us on the cross is what makes forgiveness and eternal life possible. 1 Peter 1:18-19

THE PERCEPTION OF GOD – 1 Corinthians 1:19-25

Perception is a synonym for wisdom.

Vs. 22 – The sign of Jonah was the sign Jesus gave the Jews in Matthew 12:38-41

Vs. 24 – Christ is the wisdom of God. God did for us through Christ what we could not do for ourselves.

THE PLAN OF GOD – 1 Corinthians 1:26-28

Not many “wise” or “mighty” people are called to salvation.

One must enter Christ’s Kingdom with humility.

Matthew 18:1-3, Luke 18:9-14

THE PURPOSE OF GOD – 1 Corinthians 1:29-31

The purpose of God is that He will get all the glory for salvation through His Son.
