Numbers 10:1-10 – THE SOUND OF TRUMPETS
Israel was to make and use two silver trumpets. These trumpets had five different purposes.
A CALL TO ASSEMBLY – Vss. 3,7
When the people were to gather, both trumpets would sound.
A CALL TO AUTHORITIES – Vs. 4
One trumpet was sounded for the leadership to assemble.
A CALL TO ADVANCE – Vss. 5-6
When the people were to break camp and move out the trumpets would sound.
A CALL FOR ASSISTANCE – Vs. 9
When there was an enemy attack in the land of Israel, the alarm would sound. This sounding of alarm indicated Israel’s need of God’s help.
A CALL TO ADORATION – Vs. 10
This sounding of trumpets was for the marking of the calendar, the celebration of holy days, and the offering of sacrifices.
I think of pastors as God’s trumpets today.
Pastors call their congregations to assemble.
Pastors call the leaders together.
Pastors call the congregations to advance.
Pastors call to God publicly and privately for assistance.
Pastors call the people to adoration.
