Matthew 20:1-16 – THE GRACE PARABLE

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

THE RECRUITMENT OF GRACE – Vss. 1-8

This parable indicates that people are recruited for salvation at various times of the “day” we call life.

Some are saved early when they can give a full day of service to the master.  Some people come at midlife, or at the end of life, or even on the death bed.

THE REWARDS OF GRACE – Vss. 9-10

Although there will be various rewards in Heaven, everyone receives the same “wage” in a sense.

Whether you are saved early or late in life, there is the reward of eternal life.

THE RESENTMENT OF GRACE – Vss. 11-12

Some may think they are deserving of more and may resent the person who comes to Christ late in life.  They didn’t get to endure the struggles and labors that come with serving Christ after salvation.

They resent those who seem to get in “by the skin of their teeth”.

THE REMINDERS OF GRACE – Vss. 13-16

God can save who He wants, when He wants, and how He wants.  God is not evil because He saves some late in life and does not require that they go through the rigors of the Christian life here on earth.

God is good, because He shows grace to so many people.
