Psalm 119 – Selected Verses – THE CRY OF MY HEART!
Sometimes we cry out from deep within our hearts. Some of the things that we cry out from the heart include:
Help!
Forgive Me!
I’m sorry!
I love you!
I miss you!
Sometimes we cry out to God as David did in Psalm 119. 7 times David cries to God, “Teach me thy statutes!” This is a good cry for us to give from our hearts. David shares 6 reasons for this cry.
BECAUSE YOU ARE GOD – TEACH ME THY STATUTES!
Psalms 119:12 – Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
Romans 11:33-36 – O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
BECAUSE YOU HAVE FORGIVEN ME – TEACH ME THY STATUTES!
Psalms 119:26 – I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
Psalms 32:1-2 – Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Psalms 32:5 – I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

BECAUSE I WANT TO OBEY YOU – TEACH ME THY STATUES!
Psalms 119:33-34 – Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Psalms 119:145 – I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes.
BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME – TEACH ME THY STATUTES!
Psalms 119:64 – The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
Psalms 119:124 – Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
The word “mercy” is often translated “love, steadfast love, or lovingkindness”.
BECAUSE YOU ARE GOOD – TEACH ME THY STATUES!
Psalms 119:68 – Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
Psalms 145:9 – The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
BECAUSE I WANT YOUR APPROVAL – TEACH ME THY STATUTES!
Psalms 119:135 – Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes.
Job 1:8 – And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
