Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – TEAMWORK
There have been some great teams in sports including the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Cowboys, Montreal Canadians, and a host of other teams. There have been some great teams in comedy including Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, The Keystone Cops, and The Three Stooges. There were some great teams in the Bible including Abraham and Sarah, Jonathan and David, Paul and Barnabas, Paul and Silas, and Aquila and Priscilla. The greatest churches are not those with one gifted leader, but those in which many are involved working together as a team. Every church should be a team of loving Christians who work together in the name of Christ for the glory of God. (You might want to share some of the “one another” verses mentioned in Scripture such as “love one another”.)
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 reminds us of the importance of teamwork.
TEAMWORK IS PROFITABLE – Vs. 9
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
TEAMWORK IS PROTECTIVE – Vs. 10
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
TEAMWORK IS PRODUCTIVE – Vs. 11
Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
TEAMWORK IS PROMINENT OR POWERFUL – Vs. 12
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
