1 Samuel 12 – SERMON AT GILGAL

The new king, Saul, had been given a great victory by God. Samuel called the people to renew their covenant with God at Gilgal. 1 Samuel 11:14-15

REVIEW OF SAMUEL’S INTEGRITY – Vss. 1-5

Samuel makes sure that his reputation is clean. This gave credibility to what he was going to say.

REMINDER OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS – Vss. 6-15

Samuel itemizes certain ways that God had been faithful to deliver Israel and encourages them to continue to serve Him.

REBUKE FOR SEEKING A KING – Vss. 16-19

Israel had done the wrong thing to demand a king. This is made evident by the storm that came up.

REASSURANCE OF SUPPORT – Vss. 20-25

They were to fear the Lord – Vss. 20-21, 24-25

God would not forsake His people – Vs. 22

Samuel would continue to pray and teach – Vs. 23
