ROLE MODELS FOR MEN (A BIBLE LESSON)

Note: This could very easily be changed into a sermon. Change the introduction and develop your own message based on the outline.

  • Who was an early role model as you were growing up?
  • Who is a role model to you now?
  • Who is a role model to you in the Bible?
  • What is the value of a role model?

Of course, Bible Characters make great role models.  Jesus is the ultimate role model. But there are also many Godly men in the Bible who model how men should act. Here are some:

NOAH: MODEL OF OBEDIENCE

  • Noah received grace. Genesis 6:7-8, Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Noah was a Godly man. Genesis 6:9
  • Noah was an obedient man. Genesis 6:22, 7:5

ABRAHAM: MODEL OF BELIEF (FAITH)

  • Abraham believed God by going. Genesis 12:1-3
  • Abraham believed God for righteousness. Genesis 15:1-6
  • Abraham believed God when tested. Genesis 22:1-14, Hebrews 11:17-19, James 2:21-24

JOSEPH: MODEL OF FAITHFULNESS

  • Faithful under terrible circumstances. Genesis 37:24-28, 36, Genesis 39:1-6
  • Faithful when tempted. Genesis 39:7-12
  • Faithful when falsely accused. Genesis 39:13-23

SAMUEL: MODEL OF LISTENING

  • He learned to listen. 1 Samuel 3:1-11
  • He shared what he heard. 1 Samuel 3:11-21
  • He did as he was told. 1 Samuel 16:1-4

DAVID: MODEL OF DEVOTION

  • His heart was right. 1 Samuel 16:6-13
  • His motive was pure. 1 Samuel 17:26
  • His commitment and praise were sincere. Psalm 34:1-8, Psalm 63:1-8
