Hebrews 12:1-2 – PROGRESS
We should be desirous of “growing in grace” (2 Peter 3:18) or making progress in our Christian lives. The author of Hebrews gives us a few suggestions in this passage.
REMEMBER THE WITNESSES – “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,” (I believe that the witnesses are the men and women of faith found in Hebrews 11)
REMOVE THE HINDRANCES – “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,” (The book of Hebrews stresses belief. I believe that the sin that easily besets us is unbelief. See Hebrews 3:12-13.)
RUN THE RACE – “…and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
REFLECT ON JESUS – “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
