Mark 10:46-52 – PERSISTENT FAITH

Hebrews 11 is known as the “Faith Chapter” or the Faith Hall of Fame. Many heroes of faith like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and many others are mentioned. As you read that chapter, you should notice that all the heroes of faith mentioned are from the Old Testament.

I think that if there was a faith Hall of Fame for the New Testament, Blind Bartimaeus would surely be in it. He is a role model of persistent faith. We see:

A HELPLESS MAN – Mark 10:46 – He was blind and had no hope for healing.

A HOPEFUL CRY – Mark 10:47-48 – He believed that Jesus could heal him, so he persistently cried out in faith. I am reminded of the great prayer warrior, the Prophet Elijah. James 5:16-18

A HEARING SAVIOR – Mark 10:49-51 – Jesus heard his cry, summoned him, and listened to his request. Matthew 7:7-12

A HEALING PRONOUNCEMENT – Mark 10:52 – Jesus honored the man’s faith. He regained his sight. Mark 11:20-26, 1 John 5:14-15

A HAPPY FOLLOWER – Mark 10:52 – The grateful man followed Jesus and praised God. Luke 18:43, Psalm 107:2, 6
