Nehemiah 1 – NEHEMIAH’S PRAYER

You will want to begin by giving the background for this prayer, as found in Vss. 1-4

Nehemiah’s Prayer was a prayer of:

CONVICTION – Vs. 5

Nehemiah was convicted that God was the God of heaven, “the great and terrible God”, who kept his promises and mercy to those who loved and obeyed him.

CONTINUATION – Vs. 6a

Nehemiah continued to pray until God gave the answers. Luke 18:1

CONFESSION – Vss. 6b-7

Nehemiah confessed his nation’s sin, his family’s sin, and his own sin.

CONFIDENCE – Vss. 8-9

Nehemiah was confident that God would keep the promises that He had made.

COMMITMENT – Vss. 10-11

Nehemiah was the Lord’s servant.

Nehemiah prayed that he would be used to solve the problem. He was in a good position for it. He was the king’s cupbearer.
