1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-10 – NEED TO KNOW
- I know how to juggle. – Explain how.
- I know how to drive a race car – Explain how.
- I know how to scuba dive – Explain how.
- I know how to walk.
- I know how to talk.
- I know how to eat.
Do I really know how to juggle, drive a race car or scuba dive? Only in my head, not in practice.
Do I really know how to walk, talk, and eat? Yes!
Do I need to know how to juggle, drive a race car, or scuba dive? Thankfully, no I don’t.
Do I need to know how to walk, talk, and eat? Yes!
There are things we need to know in order to do certain things. To juggle, drive a race car and scuba dive, I would have to learn certain facts and skill sets.
It’s Easter again. To truly enjoy Easter there are three things you need to know, not only in your head, but in your heart and in practice. They are found here in 1 Corinthians 15:1-10.
There are three things that we need to know mentioned in the passage.
THE REALITY OF REDEMPTION – Vss. 1-4
Vss. 1-2 – As Paul begins the “The Resurrection Chapter”, he reminds his listeners of the Gospel.
It is faith in the “Good News” that caused them to be “born again”, to be declared righteous by God. Romans 5:1
Paul was saying you stand in the Gospel, and you are saved from paying the penalty for you sins.
The person who is truly saved has had a life changing transformation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
In the end, you will hold fast to your faith because God keeps you saved. John 10:28-30
If you have believed in vain, it means you only gave Jesus lip service and hadn’t really trusted him.
Vs. 3 – The Gospel speaks of the reality of redemption. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. Psalm 22:1, Isaiah 53:3-6, 2 Corinthians 5:21
THE REALITY OF RESURRECTION – Vss. 4-7
Vs. 4 – Again the reality of the resurrection is according to the Scriptures. Isaiah 53:10-12, Acts 2:25-28
Vss. 5-7 – “and that he was seen” Here are witnesses of the fact that Jesus did rise from the dead. (Review them)
THE REALITY OF REGENERATION – Vss. 8-10
Regeneration means the new birth. John 3:3-7
Vss. 8-9 Jesus appeared to Paul. Paul was regenerated (born again) by the Spirit of God. His life was changed when he saw the risen Lord on the road to Damascus Acts 9:3-6, 17-22
Vs. 10 – Paul attributed it all to the grace of God.
On this Easter Sunday:
Have you been regenerated?
Do you know the Reality of Redemption?
Do you know the Reality of Resurrection?
Do you know the Reality of Regeneration?
If you know these things for certain in your heart, celebrate!
“Christ is risen!”
“He is risen indeed!”
