1 Samuel 8 – LOOKING FOR A KING

A KING WAS REQUESTED – Vss. 1-6 – Instead of having judges rule over Israel, Israel wanted a king to be like other nations.

GOD WAS REJECTED – Vss. 7-9 – Samuel was not being rejected, but God was! Samuel was to give their request, but first warn them.

THE PEOPLE WERE REMINDED – Vss. 10-18 – Israel was reminded of the sacrifices they would have to make in order to have a king.

THE NATION WAS RESOLVED – Vss. 19-20 – They refused to listen to Samuel’s warnings and insisted that they wanted a king.

THE MATTER WAS REHEARSED – Vss. 21-22 – Samuel reviewed things with God. God told him to anoint a king. The people were sent away, and God would show Samuel who the next king would be in 1 Samuel 9.
