Matthew 10:2 – LEADERS AND LOVERS

The first four apostles that Matthew says Jesus chose, turned out to include two leaders and two lovers.

PETER LED THE CHURCH – See Acts 1 & 2 and other Acts passages for details. He was not the first pope, but he was the first significant leader.

ANDREW LED THE CHRISTLESS – Andrew was always bringing someone to Jesus. See John 1:40-42, 6:8-9, 12:20-22

JAMES PRACTICED LOVE TO THE MAX – Acts 12:1-2 – He loved Christ by giving his life as a martyr.

JOHN PREACHED LOVE TO THE MAX – 1 John 3:11-18, 4:7-11

The phrase “to the max” means to the maximum point. James and John did as much as they could to practice and preach love
