Matthew 1:21-23, Luke 1:31-35 – IT’S A BOY!

Modern technology has given us some remarkable privileges. One of these privileges is to know the gender of a child before the child is born through ultrasound. That’s why a couple in our church made an announcement to friends and family saying, “It’s a Girl”. She’s already been named Hannah Grace.

About 2,000 years ago, God, through angel messengers, made an announcement to a virgin named Mary and her intended husband, Joseph. The announcement was, “It’s a boy! And His name is Jesus!”

This, of course, was a great announcement, which has impacted the world ever since. But God’s Message was more detailed than that. Looking at the two announcements in Matthew and Luke, we are told three important things about this Child.

HIS NAME: SAVIOR

HIS IDENTITY: GOD

HIS KINGDOM: ETERNAL, THRONE OF DAVID

Let’s examine each of these and then give three important take aways.
