PSALM 27:1 – I WILL NOT FEAR
Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
The message of Psalm 27:1 is “Fear not!”
I would like you to walk away from this message saying,
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY LIGHT.
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY SALVATION.
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY STRENGTH.
We have lots of fears.
- We fear the future.
- We fear poor health.
- We fear getting old.
- We fear what people think.
Jesus says “Turn to me!”
Matthew 11:28 – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
You need to say,
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY LIGHT.
What does light do? It illuminates the darkness.
You may feel that you are in the darkness of fear, worry, and uncertainty.
Jesus says in John 8:12 …I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
You need to come to the Lord Jesus and ask Him for the light of His guidance.
He will guide you through His Word.
He will guide you through His Spirit.
He will guide you through Christian friends.
Admit your fears to the Lord Jesus and ask Him for help.
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY SALVATION.
Salvation means to be saved. To be saved is to be rescued.
From what do we need saving or rescuing?
Every one of us has failed God.
Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Isaiah 64:6 – But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
God is a righteous and holy God. He demands punishment for sin.
Ezekiel 18:4 – …the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death…
God is a righteous God, but He is also a loving God.
That’s why He sent His Son to earth on a rescue mission.
The Lord Jesus was sinless and didn’t need to pay for His sins because He had done. Therefore He could die for your sins, and that’s exactly what He did.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
He died for you, was buried and rose again. He’s living in Heaven.
He died to rescue you, to save you.
All you have to do is accept His free gift, turning from sin and trying to earn your way to Heaven and trusting that Christ paid for your sins in full.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This will change your life.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
This will remove the fear of standing before God and not knowing what to say.
What about you? Can you say, “Jesus is my salvation I will not fear”?
I WILL NOT FEAR BECAUSE JESUS IS MY STRENGTH.
When Jesus is your savior, He will be the strength of my life.
We will be able to say with the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
