ISAIAH 41:10 – FEAR NOT! – A FUNERAL MESSAGE
This morning you are hurting. A loved one, a friend, someone dear to you has passed away. Many times when we hurt it is because we are afraid. One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 41:10: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
One of the greatest fears we have is death itself. Why do we fear death? Because we are leaving the only life we know! Because we are leaving behind friends and loved ones. Because we feel uncertain about the future. Because we know that we have failed God and have to answer to Him.
My friend, God loves you and doesn’t want you to fear death.
That’s why He sent His son to die for your sins. You’ve failed God. The Bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The Bible says, “The soul that sins, it shall die.” But God in His love sent the Lord Jesus to die in your place.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 – For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
God in His love sent His Son to die for you.
God only asks one thing of you for eternal life.
God says, “Trust my Son!”
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God says, “Fear thou not.”
You need not fear death if your faith is in Christ. If you haven’t at a specific time trusted Him as Savior, today is the day to do it!
If you know Christ as Savior, this verse is especially comforting.
