GENESIS 3 – DRAMA IN REAL LIFE
THE TOOLS OF SATAN – Genesis 3:1-5
- Distraction – Satan will try to keep us from being focused on God. He was subtle. Vs. 1
- Doubt – Satan will try to make us doubt God’s goodness. Vss. 1-3
- Denial – Satan will try to make us believe things that aren’t true, and influence us to not believe what is true. Vss. 4-5
- Deceit – Satan was trying to deceive Eve so she’d believe his lie.
THE TROUBLES OF MAN – Genesis 3:6, Matthew 4:1-11, 1 John 2:15-17
- Lust of the Flesh
- Lust of the Eyes
- Pride of Life
- Deception (Eve) 1 Timothy 2:13-14
- Outright Rebellion (Adam) 1 Timothy 2:13-14
THE TRIAL BY GOD – Genesis 3:7-24
- Arrest Vss. 7-11
- Questioning Vss. 12-13
- Verdict – Although God does not pronounce them guilty, they certainly were and acts on it.
- Sentencing – Vss. 14-19
- Mercy and Hope – Vss. 15, 20-23
- Satan (The Serpent) would be defeated by Jesus. Vs. 15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:21
- God covered man’s nakedness with animal skins. That meant an innocent animal’s blood was shed to cover man’s sin. This was a down payment, so to speak in advance of the shedding of Jesus’ blood for our sins. Vs. 21 John 1:29, Hebrews 9:22-28
- Adam and Eve were evicted so they would not eat of “The Tree of Life” before Jesus secured salvation for mankind. Eat of that tree would have meant living forever in an unredeemed state. Vss. 22-24, Revelation 22:1-6
