2 Kings 6:8-23 –┬áDO YOU WANT TO SERVE THE LORD?

I think most true Christians want to serve the Lord in some capacity.

Elisha the prophet shows us how to do this.

1. SPEAK GOD’S TRUTH Vss. 8-10

Elisha simply told others what God had told Him.

Paul did the same thing. See 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 11:23

2. EXPECT SATAN’S RETALIATION Vss. 11-15

3. RELY ON GOD’S PROTECTION Vss. 16-20

Note that Elisha’s prayer for blindness was for the purpose of protection,

not harming someone else. In fact the blindness was temporary.

4. ACT AS GOD’S REPRESENTATIVE Vss. 21-23

God did not want the enemy killed in this case, but blessed.

Elisha acted as God’s representative in practicing the “golden rule” of

doing unto others as we would have them do to us. See Romans 12:19-21. Note that the raids on Israel ceased after this event.
