2 Samuel 12:14-23 – DEALING WITH GOD’S WILL
We must always remember that God’s will is good, acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:2).
There are times, however, when we find God’s will hard to deal with. We have a hard time dealing with God’s will because we are human, because we are sinners, because are limited in our understanding, and because we do not always trust God the way we should.
David had sinned against God and was being judged by God for his sinful actions against Bath-sheba and Uriah (2 Samuel 11). He was confronted by the prophet Nathan concerning his sin (2 Samuel 12).
GOD’S WILL ANNOUNCED – Vs. 14
As a result of David’s sin, the child would die.
GOD’S WILL APPEALED – Vss. 15-17
It was not wrong for David to intercede for the child or to desire that God would change His mind.
It is not wrong for us to pray and ask God for a positive answer to our concerns.
GOD’S WILL ACCEPTED – Vss. 18-23
David accepted the will of God. He was not angry with God. He realized that one day he would see his child again.
We must follow David’s example. God’s will is to be accepted, even if we wish He had done things differently. He knows best!
