ROMANS 11:33-12:2 – BASIC HOLINESS
- What is holiness and why is it important?
- We learn a lot about holiness from the Book of Romans.
- In our text this evening, I see some basic steps in our pursuit of holiness. I often need to be reminded of these steps. Let’s examine them briefly.
CONSIDER GOD’S GREATNESS – Romans 11:33-36
I believe these verses are a response to all that Paul has said previously.
- God Has Good News. (Introduction) – Romans 1:1-17
- All Are Lost Sinners. – Romans 1:18 – 3:20
- Salvation Is by Faith. – Romans 3:21 – 5:21
- The Process of Christian Growth – Romans 6:1 – 8:39
- God Is Sovereign. – Romans 9:1 – 11:32
Summing up Romans 11:33-36 – God is awesome and worthy of our worship!
COMMIT YOUR BODY – Romans 12:1
- Because God is awesome, we should, as Christians, dedicate ourselves to Him.
- What does it mean to present our bodies as a living sacrifice?
- In my life who is the most important person to please? That should affect our behavior!
- Why is this the least that I can do (reasonable service)?
CORRECT YOUR THINKING – Romans 12:2
- What does it mean to be conformed?
- What does it mean to be transformed?
- I see at least three key ingredients to transformation:
- God’s Word
- God’s Spirit
- My cooperation (obedience)
- According to the rest of this verse, what is the goal of this transformation?
