2 Timothy 1:1-8 – A SPIRITUAL PARENT (FATHER) – FATHER’S DAY
Many Christians end up being Spiritual parents to younger Christians. We may
have led them to the Lord, and/or discipled them. How can we be good Spiritual parents to our own children and our children in the faith? We can follow Paul’s example, as he was a Spiritual parent to Timothy.
A FATHER’S MIND – Vss. 1-2 – Wishing grace, mercy, and peace
A FATHER’S MINISTRY – Vss. 3-4 – Praying for the child and desiring to spend time with the child.
A FATHER’S MEMORY – Vs. 5-6 – A good parent reminds his child of positive things which have happened in the past and that he should continue to progress.
A FATHER’S MESSAGE – Vss. 7-8 – A father looks to strengthen and encourage a child. Paul’s message to Timothy encouraged him to stand firm for the Lord. We should encourage our Spiritual children in the same way.
