2 Peter 1:12-21 – A PASTOR’S RESOLVE
Church Pastors or Elders are the primary leaders in the local church. (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
Peter considered himself to be an elder and was concerned that all elders function in a Godly way. (1 Peter 5:1-4)
In 2 Peter 1:12-21, I believe that Peter is showing the resolve that a pastor or elder should have. A pastor or elder should be able to say with in the integrity of his heart the following things:
Vs. 12 – I will not be negligent.
Vs. 13 – I will stir you up.
Vs. 14 – I will know my limitations.
Vs. 15 – I will endeavor to remind you.
Vss. 16-18 – I will share my experience. (Hebrews 13:7)
Vss. 19-21 – I will stress God’s Word.
Note: This could be an ordination sermon or a challenge to the Pastor at an ordination.
