1 Timothy 4:12-16 – A GOOD PASTOR

How can you tell when you have a good pastor?

How a pastor tell when he is doing the right things.

Paul gave these tips to a young Pastor named Timothy.

They are still true today.

A PASTOR’S PATTERN OF BEHAVIOR – Vs. 12

The pastor is not a dictator, but a role model. He is an example to the believers in the areas listed in this verse.

A PASTOR’S PERFORMANCE IN THE PULPIT – Vss. 13

The pastor gives attention to public reading of Scripture, encouraging the flock (exhortation) and teaching (doctrine).

A PASTOR’S PRIORITIES FOR SUCCESS – Vss. 14-16

1. The pastor uses whatever Spiritual gifts he has for the glory of God. Vss. 14-15

2. The pastor is to take heed to his own personal walk, practicing what he preaches. Vs. 16

3. The pastor is to take heed to his doctrine (teaching) to make sure that it is accurate. Vs. 16
