Psalm 85:6

REVIVE US AGAIN!

Psalm 85:6 - Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

“The word ‘revive’ simply means ‘to live again, to be renewed in life.’” Warren Wiersbe, The Bible Exposition Commentary/Wisdom and Poetry, (Colorado Springs, Colorado, Victor, Cook Communications Ministries, 2004) p. 244

“To bring back to life or consciousness; resuscitate.” American Heritage Dictionary

WHO CAN BE REVIVED?

·        THE DISAPPOINTED CAN BE REVIVED

·        THE DEPRESSED CAN BE REVIVED

·        THE DISOBEDIENT CAN BE REVIVED

Proverbs 6:16-19 - These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: [17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, [18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, [19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

·        THE DEFEATED CAN BE REVIVED

Romans 7:19 - For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

·        THE DISTRACTED CAN BE REVIVED

Jeremiah 2:13 - For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

·        THE DEAD CAN BE REVIVED

Ephesians 2:1 - And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

HOW CAN WE BE REVIVED?

Rev. 2:4-5 - Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. [5] Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

·        RETURN

Rev. 2:4 – You left, you need to come back!

·        REQUEST

Wilt thou not revive us again:

·        REMEMBER

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen

·        REPENT

James 4:4 - Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

James 4:8-10 - Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

·        REPEAT

and do the first works;

·        REJOICE

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Psalm 85:6

PRAYER FOR REVIVAL

"Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?"

There is a lack of Spirituality among Christians, especially in the United States. God's people need to pray for revival, realizing the following things.

GOD'S POWER FOR REVIVAL

Only God can bring true revival, that's why we must ask God for it, and believe God for it. (Matthew 11:24)

GOD'S PLAN FOR REVIVAL

To revive means to give life!  When revival is needed, it is because there is a definite lack of Spiritual life.

GOD'S PRIORITY IN REVIVAL

The prayer is "Revive us again."  Only the Christian who has experienced the grace of God in his life can truly pray that prayer.  God's priority is that Christians would get right with Him and experience a return to true Spiritual life.  When Christians get right with God, then the unsaved will also come to Christ.

GOD'S PURPOSE IN REVIVAL - "That thy people may rejoice in thee."

God's people rejoice in sports, computers, business, fame, fortune, and a host of other things. Our God wants us to receive our joy from Him.
