There is a “triangle” of sorts in Job 1.  Three characters interact.

 

JOB

1.     Acted Righteously – Vss. 1, 5

2.     Accumulated Wealth – Vs. 3

3.     Accepted Ruin – Vss. 20-22

 

SATAN

1.     Accused – Vss. 9-11   

2.     Attacked – Vss. 13-19

 

GOD

1.     APPROVED OF JOB – Vss. 6-8

2.     ALLOWED JOB’S TRIAL – Vs. 12

3.     ASSIGNED THE LIMITS TO JOB’S TRIAL – Vs. 12

LAMBASTED BY SATAN Vss. 6-12

 

LEVELED BY SATAN Vss. 12-19

 

LOYAL TO GOD Vss. 20-22

TESTED!

 

JOB'S CHARACTER - Vss. 1-5

Job was a godly man whom God had richly blessed.

 

SATAN'S CONTENTION - Vss. 6-11

Satan contended that if God removed His hedge of protection around Job that Job would curse God.

 

GOD'S CONSENT - Vs. 12

God gave permission for Job to be tested, only Job himself could not be touched.

 

SATAN'S CRUSH - Vss. 13-19

Satan crushed and removed just about everything that Job had, with the exception of his wife.

 

JOB'S CONDUCT - Vss. 20--22

Job blessed God and did not sin, nor did he accuse God.
