EXPERIENCING THE IMPOSSIBLE

 

Peter was in prison and slated for execution.  Humanly speaking, Peter was beyond hope.  But God allowed him to experience the impossible.

 

UNFAIR ACTIONS – Vss. 1-4

James had been martyred. Peter was in jail and scheduled for execution.

 

UNIFIED – ENDEAVOR – Vs. 5

The church prayed.

 

UNEXPECTED DELIVERANCE – Vs. 11

An angle delivered Peter.

 

UNREASONABLE DOUBT – Vss. 12-15

Those praying did not believe that God was answering their prayer.

 

UNMISTAKABLE TRUTH – Vss. 15-17

Peter appeared and gave his testimony of deliverance.

WHEN TROUBLE STRIKES

 

Peter was in trouble!

Herod had placed him in jail and was planning to execute him.

Although we may never end up in jail because of our faith, or face execution, we will face troubles from time to time.  The lessons about Peter's troubles are applicable to ours.

 

OUR PROBLEMS ARE BIGGER THAN WE CAN HANDLE. Vss. 1-4

 

OUR PETITIONS ARE TO BE CONSISTENT UNTIL WE HAVE AN ANSWER. Vs. 5

The church continued to pray. We should follow its example and the teaching of our Lord Jesus in Luke 18:1-8.

 

GOD'S PEACE CAN KEEP US IN ANY SITUATION. Vs. 6

Peter slept the night before execution. He was at peace!

 

GOD'S POWER IS GREATER THAN WE CAN IMAGINE. Vss. 6-11

 

OUR PERSPECTIVE SHOULD KEEP US EXPECTING GOD'S ANSWER. Vss. 12-17

Peter was at the door. Rhoda reported it. The people praying did not believe that their answer to prayer was standing at the door.

 

GOD'S PREROGATIVE WILL BE SHOWN OVER HIS ENEMIES. Vss. 18-25
